0800 & 0808 number ranges

These are called free-phone or freefone numbers. These numbers are used mainly in advertising to attract more business. When a caller dials the number they are connected to the party free of any charge (with the exception of a mobile phone). This is because the called party picks up the cost of the call. These numbers are sometimes used for customer service whereby the company may charge for the service they give but wish for the caller not to be charged extra for using the service. Our ranges are 080017000000-999, 08007117000-999, 08007555000-99 and 08081990000-9999 (all free to callers).

0843 / 0844 / 0845 Number Ranges

These numbers are used to create a local coverage. Callers still pay for calling the numbers but not a premium (prices for calling them are between 1 - 5ppm). Normally associated with large corporate companies like banks, insurance and mortgage companies. Some numbers may generate a small inbound revenue. This is shared with the company that uses the numbers to help pay towards the running cost of the service provided. Our ranges are 08430330000-9999 (3ppm) 08430430000-9999 (4ppm) and finally 08455120000-9999 (3.36ppm).

0870 Number Range

This number range is classed as a national number. The number range took a fair amount of criticism in 2005 and finally by end of 2009 beginning of 2010 the numbers have been reclassed as a national number but with no revenue share. This means that most people who have these numbers are now being charged for receiving calls on them, whereby they used to collect some of the revenue. At NTA we are able to port these numbers to our network and deliver them back to you over our network free of charge (an IP Based SIP Account is required) . Customers who still receive large volumes of calls on such numbers may consider this as an alternative rather than the recommended suggestion of renumbering to an 0844/0845 number. This all sounds fine until they do the same to these ranges too. There's nothing to worry about with NTA. As long as you have a connection to our SIP Network these calls will always be delivered without any extra charge. Our number range is 08704730000-9999 (now at normal UK national rate).

0871 & 0872 Number Ranges

These number ranges follow guidelines and rules by pay-phone-plus service. These numbers tend to be 8/9/10ppm some carry a connection fee too. These numbers are great for generating revenue for services such as IT companies who may only make revenue from numbers such as these. Industry sectors such as travel use the numbers to subsidise the service they give to their clients.
