With the introduction of FTTC (Fibre to the cabinet) and FTTP (Fibre to the premises) the opportunity to offer voice and data services over a single broadband connection have really taken off. Superfast speeds of up to 40Mb download and anything from 2-10Mb upload will rival any other broadband service.

Using FTTC means that connections are far more reliable due to the fact that the copper used to bring the service to a premises are of a much shorter run. Equipment that provide the new superfast broadband are placed in cabinets in the street closer to premises. Thus increasing the speed to a stardard ADSL or a ADSL2+.
